At あさま空山望 (ASAMA KUZANBO), a single villa resort in Kita-Karuizawa,
Aiming to form a base for art creation in the Karuizawa and Kita-Karuizawa area,
Providing artists with a creative environment that confronts nature
あさま空山望 Artist-in-Residence Program" (Supported by Kita-Karuizawa Tourist Association) has started.
We are now accepting applications from artists interested in participating in this program.

あさま空山望" is located in Kita-Karuizawa, an area of unspoiled nature,
This is a single villa resort with a total of 16 villas.
Magnificent views of Mt. Asama, quiet mornings, clean air, etc,
The unique environment that can only be experienced here has provided creative inspiration to many of our residents.
Through new works and exchanges that are born here,
We will continue to present a new form of culture that combines art and resorts.

The Karuizawa and Kita-Karuizawa areas are dotted with numerous art museums and studios, and for many years, artists, craftspeople, designers, and other creative professionals have been engaged in their creative work here.
Under the supervision of world-renowned designer Junko Koshino, あさま空山望 also incorporates artistic elements into the villa’s design and spatial layout.
Drawing on the cultural background of this region and the rich natural environment at the foot of Mount Asama, we launched the “Artist-in-Residence Program” as an initiative to support artists’ creative activities.
As the first installment of this initiative, painter Yugo Kōrogi stayed for about one month during the winter of 2026. He created his art while immersing himself in the natural surroundings at the foot of Mount Asama, and the work he produced during his stay, “Λ (Lambda) 01,” is currently on permanent display at the facility.
In addition, during their stay, we held oil painting workshops for our guests, providing them with an opportunity not only to view the artwork but also to engage with the creative process while interacting with the artists.
Following this first artist-in-residence program, あさま空山望 is now accepting applications for the second Artist-in-Residence program.
