Spring is a pleasant time for hiking, but in higher elevations, snow may linger through mid-April. Trails may be muddy or icy, so waterproof shoes and carrying chain spikes are recommended for safety. Temperatures can drop close to 0°C in the early morning and evening, so dress in layers that allow for easy adjustment—such as fleece or a lightweight down jacket.
Summer (June-August)
Even in the highlands, the sun can be intense, and daytime temperatures may exceed 25°C. Moisture-wicking, quick-dry innerwear, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential. On trails that pass through grassy or marshy areas, insect repellent is also important. Thunderstorms are common in the afternoon, so it's best to finish your hike by midday. Always carry a lightweight rain jacket.
Autumn (September-November)
